WHO IS KUATO - Blog #3

This is truly happening, well at least for the first 3 days...yeah I know 3 days is a long way from day 56!!!  You ask "Has it been tough", heck yes it has.  As I move through the week with job, basketball practice, basketball games, baseball practice and family time it has been tough.

Reminding myself about the goals I set .... start eating healthy, reduce food intake and start exercising.  These first couple days I have really focused in those areas.

So with the above listed problems my biggest one is the food intake.  I would just eat when I was bored, when I was not hungry or just never stopped dinner until all the food was gone.  Some people talk about that food baby, well in my case I have Kuato living inside of me.  All my Sci-Fi friends just snickered and understand when they see the name Kuato!!

WHO IS KUATO....So back in 1990 before Arnold was the Governor he starred in one of the greatest films, Total Recall, and NO people not that SUCK ASS remake in 2012.  Anyways there was a character named Kuato, who was the leader of the revolution.  I truly believe that Kuato lives inside of me and is the reason I just cannot stop eating.  If you had a Kuato on your stomach you would have my problem...so for you all that have no idea what I am talking about here is picture of Kuato...

Once I figured out I had a Kuato he has been easier to control.  And knowing is half the battle (hint for my video at the end of the blog).

Solving problems by taking care of my SpongeBob tightness and reducing my Kuato hunger!!!

I decided that since this is a blog about the life of a coach, I will include at the bottom of the blogs some updates on the Kansas City Mudcats sports teams that I coach.  Included at the bottom to keep me honest with what I am eating, I will also include food for the week.  Hopefully this will help me keep track what is going in my mouth and that I am not feeding Kuato.

The Last Weekend - Blog #2

With the official start of the diet on Sunday I decided to take full advantage of my Friday and Saturday night. Spending Friday night with some family drinking our sorrows away at Burg & Barrel.  Katie and I went overboard with the selfies, as some would say We so Cra Cra!!!

I had several "Ray Charles" beers, blindly picking a bottle and drinking it, and several others.  You could say we slept very peacefully Friday night, with only a minor headache in the morning!!  After basketball games on Saturday we did not want the weekend party to stop so off to a charity fundraiser at Hamburger Mary's.  I found out that Mary may look like a girl but lets just say she is good friends with RuPaul!!  So we indulged ourselves in fried onion rings and nachos...gotta say that might have been a little much.

As I wake up Sunday morning I am just so unmotivated, until I got up to go the bathroom.  Why the hell is my underwear so damn tight???!!?  I totally feel like SpongeBob Square Pants, at least his belly does not go over his underwear!!!

With that needed motivation I got my ass up, put some shorts on and got onto the treadmill, yes I really did!!  The start of the SpongeBob Diet had begun!!!  I am using a trick from Katie, find a show on Netflix, use it as my motivation to go down to walk and watch.

Intro - Blog #1

Never would I have thought I would be sitting down and writing a blog!!!  Heck I had to Google the word "blog" just to make sure I knew what the word meant.  Just in case someone out there like me, Wikipedia defines it as a Web Log, so creative dropping the We!!

The main reason I decided to do this ... self motivation.  Basically I need to motivate myself to LOSE WEIGHT!!  So I figure what is the best way to do it and thought of course, update my progress to the entire world.  Of course I do not plan to advertise this blog to the world, but if I subconsciously make myself believe millions of people are reading this and cheering me on, wouldn't that be great motivation?

Now to make this believable to myself I also need to create a name for my blog that represented me, my family, my hobby and things I love to do.  Talk about difficult.  But then like all great things the light bulb come on and the word Squeeze Play came to mind.

Squeeze Play is a baseball term.  Let me return to my old friend Wikipedia for a definition "is a maneuver consisting of a sacrifice bunt with a runner on third base. The batter bunts the ball, expecting to be thrown out at first base, but providing the runner on third base an opportunity to score."

What an awesome thing, sacrificing yourself for the greater good of the team.  Choosing this name was so perfect in many ways.  I have the ability to coach baseball, with the full backing of my wife, she is laying that bunt down so that I can score, sacrificing herself for the great good.  I also am laying that bunt down sacrificing myself and my time to coach my 3 wonderful boys so they can score.

I also take this meaning and apply it to my life, I get so busy having to squeeze everything in.  Which also is going to include this diet and workout that I am about to start.  At some point during this journey I have to sacrifice some of the things I love to do as in drinking, eating out and free time to make this diet work!

What is going to make this even more difficult is that I am starting the end of January, as we start baseball practice and are finishing up basketball.  But I am going to make the effort to accomplish my goals.  Which are.....

To try and drop between 20-25 pounds before Katie and I leave for Vegas in 8 weeks.  This puts me trying to lose 2-3 pounds a week.  I plan to use good eating habits, drinking lots of water and a work out program.

This is all set to start on Sunday, January 26th...so all you fake millions of people out there come join me on this journey!!  I will try to keep everyone updated 1-2 times a week on this progress!!

I will end each blog with a super cool 80's something just because if you know me I LOVE THE 80's....
